2012 ATU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
IN MEMORY OF: GARY MAURER
The 2011-2012 Gary Maurer
Memorial Scholarship Application Form and instructions are now available at the
ATU Local 1300 office. The 2011-2012
scholarships are in remembrance of International Representative Gary Maurer,
who passed away on June 1, 2010. Five
scholarships each in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded this year. A sixth $2,000 scholarship is available to an
applicant who will attend a technical or vocational post-secondary school. The competition is open to ATU members and
their children. All applicants must meet
the eligibility requirements and otherwise satisfy these Rules and
Procedures. For each scholarship winner,
the ATU will deposit up to $5,000 with an accredited college, a technical or a
vocational post-secondary school where the award winner will be attending.
Applicants must be either:

a Member of the
ATU in good standing;
·
the child
(whether natural or legally adopted) or stepchild of a member or of a deceased
member who was in good standing at the time of his or her death;
·
an adopted
grandchild of a member of the ATU in good standing.
Applicants must be high
school seniors planning to enter college (or technical or vocational
post-secondary school) for the first time following graduation during the
2011-2012 school year, or previous high
school graduates that have never attended college.
ATU Scholarships are not
available to the following persons:
·
those who do not
intend to work without interruption toward a bachelor degree or graduation from
a technical or vocational school;
·
those who are
attending or have already attended collect, technical or vocational school,
·
spouses and/or
grandchildren of members;
·
ATU International
Officers, International Representatives, staff, and other employees or their
dependents, and
·
Employees of
their dependents, and those who are fully funded for tuition, and books from
other sources.

Completed applications must be sent by first class mail to the ATU Scholarship
Program Office at 5025 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, 20016-4139. Applications must be postmarked no later than
January 31, 2012. Late applications will
not be accepted.
AMALGAMATED TRANSIT UNION (ATU) LOCAL 1300 ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION RESULTS
November 30, 2010, BALTIMORE
The membership of the Amalgamated Transportation Union (ATU) Local 1300 located in Baltimore, Maryland elected David McClure as President and Business Agent for a second term.  Mr. McClure became one of the youngest Presidents when elected for his first term in 2007. Also, re-elected to the Board are Alnett Queen as Vice President and Larry Dunham as Executive Board Transportation. The Union elected new officers Bertrand Deloatch as Financial Secretary Treasurer, Olivia Whitestone as Recording Secretary, and Robert Burley as Assistant Business Agent.  Newly elected to Executive Board Transportation are Charletta Carter and Gregory Diggs. The membership elected Anthony Johnson, Leroy Carpenter and Jeffrey Rice as Executive Board Non-Operations.  The term for all officers and board members is three years. For more information on the ATU Local 1300, visit the website at www.atulocal1300.com , or call 410-889-3566.
